Our story

Xcoins started in 2016, when buying crypto meant wiring money to strangers and hoping. The idea was straightforward: make buying crypto work the way buying anything else works, with a card, a clear price, and a company you can actually hold accountable.

That last part shaped everything. In 2019 Xcoins moved its headquarters to Malta for the country's crypto regulatory framework, and in 2021 became one of the first cryptocurrency platforms licensed by the Malta Financial Services Authority. Regulation isn't a burden we tolerate; it's the point. It's what makes a crypto platform something you can trust with your money rather than take a chance on.

Today Xcoins serves customers around the world, with the Xcoins App live in the United States and rolling out to Europe next. The product has grown; the idea hasn't changed.

  1. 2016

    Xcoins is founded by three crypto pioneers to fill a gap in the retail market: buying and selling crypto with a credit or debit card.

  2. 2019

    Corporate headquarters move to Malta for its cryptocurrency regulatory framework, laying the ground for a fully compliant entity serving customers worldwide.

  3. 2021

    Xcoins receives its Class 3 VFA licence from the Malta Financial Services Authority, one of the first cryptocurrency platforms to achieve it, following In-Principle Approval earlier that year.

  4. 2022

    XCoinsPay launches, letting online businesses accept crypto payments and convert them to traditional currencies.

  5. 2026

    The Xcoins App launches in the United States, bringing selling and the USD Cash Account to mobile.

  6. 2026

    Xcoins is authorised under MiCA as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP), bringing its EU services under Europe's single crypto rulebook.
