What is Bitcoin Cash?
Bitcoin Cash is a separate coin created in 2017 when Bitcoin's community split over how to scale. One side wanted bigger blocks so the network could carry more transactions cheaply. They forked the code, kept the transaction history up to that point, and every Bitcoin holder received an equal amount of BCH. It shares Bitcoin's design: a 21 million cap, mining, and a halving roughly every four years. People buy it for cheaper on-chain payments and to hold it.
The price above is set by supply and demand across exchanges worldwide, 24 hours a day, with no central bank and no closing bell.
Three things drive most of the movement. Bitcoin's price: Bitcoin Cash tends to move with Bitcoin, because the two share a design, a mining base and many of the same holders. It rarely leads. Its own forks and upgrades: Bitcoin Cash has split again since 2017, and each split has moved the price. Network changes are announced in advance and worth reading about before they happen. The wider market: the same rates, regulation and risk appetite that move every crypto asset.
Bitcoin Cash has traded at a shrinking fraction of Bitcoin's price for most of its life, with sharp rallies along the way. That's the history. It's not a forecast, and we won't pretend to have one. What we can give you is the live price, the record, and a clean way to buy if you decide to.
